Former Brigg mayor Tom to be honorary freeman of town

Three-times former Brigg Mayor Tom Glossop is to be made an honorary freeman of the town.

Mr Glossop, who did not seek re-election to the town council in May, was recognised for his outstanding and uninterrupted service to the town and local government during the past 32 years.

This means Mr Glossop will be invited to attend all council civic functions. He and his wife will be entitled to process with the town mayor and mayoress at any town processions.

He was praised for his tireless support for charitable events and organisations in the town, which has benefited the town and its residents and also served to generate a positive profile of Brigg, both locally and nationally.

Mr Glossop has been invited to attend the town mayor’s civic service and reception, at St John the Evangelist Church, Brigg, at 4pm on Sunday, October 9, when the mayor will make the formal presentation at the Angel Suite.
