WORKERS from a Market Rasen firm are set to represent Great Britain at an international fencing competition.

Charlie Wright and George Bridge, who work at Front Row Fencing in North Willingham, pulled out all the stops at this year’s National Fencing Competition held at the Driffield Show.

The fencers beat off some fierce competition to win second place – and will now represent Great Britain at the International Fencing Championships in Germany next month.

Charlie and George are the only British entrants and are facing tough competition from the best fencers from New Zealand, Germany, Holland, Denmark, France and Austria. They will battle it out to win the title of fence-building world champions on September 1.

The pair – who are the first people in Lincolnshire to be selected for an international fencing competition – are both delighted that the preparation, hard work and effort paid off.

The challenge for the two man teams was to erect a 50-metre run of stock fencing with a 250 bend, with one join and two barbed wire strands to be completed in four hours.

With some challenging conditions, post holes full of water and heavy clouds looming, the boys shone through using their skill, strength and motivation to impress the judges.
