Market Rasen’s Town Partnership is looking to stage a special Evening Market this summer.
Coun Steve Bunney told town councillors last week that the group has set a provisional date of June 9 for the event, which would be the Tuesday after the Gardeners’ Market.
“The idea is for a family-type evening for people who work outside Market Rasen during the day. There would be a bit of entertainment, a bit of music,” he said.
“We would want to make it a bit jolly. It’s not just sales but entertainment as well, to bring people into the town and would see Market Square being used more.”
Coun Bunney also told last week’s town council meeting that contrary to rumours and the fears of some traders, there are no plans to increase stall rents and regular traders will continue to get a discount for their loyalty.
“There is a suggestion in time we will look at the pricing structure but there is no proposal to make any changes,” he said.
