PRESSURE is on to decide where 105 trees can be planted in Market Rasen.
The town’s Lions group is calling on the public to suggest places to plant hundreds of trees – it needs people to come up with at least 105 ideas, otherwise it will not get any trees at all.
The trees will be supplied by Lions International as part of a project to give something back to the community and help the environment.
Market Rasen Lions president Brian Richardson said: “We’ve committed ourselves to planting at least 105 trees but can have as many as we want.
“We need ideas from the public and possibly the town council on suitable areas for planting that would most benefit the community.”
Mr Richardson is hoping the community will support the project – and help make a difference to the environment.
He said: “It’s a really fantastic project and I hope everyone will get involved.
“A few trees can really make a difference to run down areas.
“Hopefully some schools will apply and the children can get involved in the planting, it would be a nice educational project for them.”
“We need to look after the environment for future generations – our children and our children’s children.
“It’s incredible how many trees have been chopped down over the years and no replacements have been planted.
“Trees are so important for purifying the air.
“The trees will be planted by Lions volunteers and anyone from the community who wants to help out.”
