To celebrate the opening of their new library, Caistor
Yarborough Academy invited local published author
Veronica M Podbury to speak to students.

Veronica has published two mystery books, aimed at teenagers - ‘Secrets’ and ‘Watching’ - and explained how she tried to make them as modern as possible.

“The books have references to mobile phones and Facebook so the teenagers can relate to them,” said Veronica.

“And they are written at a short and fast pace as teenagers often lose interest with long novels.”

“It was interesting to hear how Veronica modernised the book,” said student Keir Sowerby.

“Also I liked the sketches which she included on various pages which will keep the reader wanting to read on until they reach the next one.”

The computer-free library was completed in November 2014 and has created a quiet place for the students to go to work or read.

It is used for various lessons and the school newspaper group also hold meetings there to discuss their stories.
