A CAISTOR nursery has been shortlisted for two national awards.

Lincolnshire Montessori in Grimsby Road has been shortlisted for the accolades in the Nursery World 2012 awards.

Staff member Jo Robinson is in the running for the Early Years Professional of the Year award and the school’s ‘growing together’ project has been shortlisted for a Team Development Award.

But Lincolnshire Montessori faces stiff competition from around the UK to win the coveted award, which recognise excellence in the sector.

Director Theresa Ellerby said: “We are thrilled to get this far
in the awards. In a climate when funds are tight and training is not as plentiful as it was, we are working hard to ensure our team keep growing and learning.”

Director Sylvia Fields is also pleased. “We have long prioritised professional development in the form of courses, conferences, coaching and mentoring. I am very pleased that our management and staff teams have been recognised for their ongoing commitment, ” she said.

Montessori is an approach to early education that focuses on the capacity of children to absorb information when given the freedom and independence to learn at their own pace.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on September 28.
