SCHOOL playgrounds across Lincolnshire will receive specially designed markings aimed at encouraging children to enjoy more exercise and develop multi-skills through games.
The initiative follows a successful pilot with 80 Lincolnshire schools.
Now, all non fee-paying schools in the county will be offered the opportunity to install a range of permanent playground activity zone markings.
The Multi-Skills Training Package (MSTP) also involves a comprehensive series of associated training for teachers, teaching assistants, playground supervisors, young leaders and parents.
Coun Patricia Bradwell, Executive Councillor for Children’s Services, said: “The scheme has been recognised nationally for the contribution it makes in reducing childhood obesity through physical activity.
“Children are encouraged to enjoy games in the playground through regular, high quality, structured activities.
“It’s not about forcing children into competitive sport that they don’t want to do but enjoying fun activities with their friends and classmates. If it encourages more young people to exercise then it’s got to be a good thing.”
