Students took on a panel of three senior members of staff to prepare themselves for the English Speaking Union Mace Debate later this year.
The motion was ‘This House believes Socialism is superior to Capitalism’.
The students represented a government in support of the motion and staff the opposition.
The teams were judged by head teacher Ellenor Beighton and head of sixth form Kerry Rivett, who were highly impressed by the standard of the debate and the amount of research both teams had completed.
However, the staff panel, just clinched the winning position with their clever use of rhetorical questions and analogies.
