Principal at Brigg’s Vale Academy, Gail Young is leaving her post after being promoted to Regional Director of Education and Executive Principal of the School Partnership Trust Academies, sponsors of The Vale.
Mrs Young, who joined The Vale as principal in September 2007, leaves this week, but will remain a familiar face as she will oversee the Brigg academy in her new role.
“It’s with a great deal of sadness that I leave The Vale because we have built an academy that Brigg and the surrounding area can be proud of,” she said.
“The team here, teaching and support staff, is absolutely wonderful, totally committed and loyal to the students, who are fantastic.”
Mrs Young is being replaced by current Vice Principal, Nicola Williams, also a member of the leadership team that was rated “outstanding” by Ofsted in March.
“I know I’m leaving the school in safe hands”, Mrs Young added. “Nicola has been a highly-valued and respected member of my senior leadership team, she knows the academy very well and will continue to focus on the things that matter and strive to ensure that our students achieve their absolute potential.”
Sir Paul Edwards, chief executive officer of SPTA, is delighted Mrs Young has accepted the new challenge and said: “She is an inspirational leader who has done an outstanding job at The Vale and has worked in a regional capacity for some time, providing support to others.”
