An eco housing development in Caistor has scooped a top award at a regional building awards ceremony.

Evergreen Drive won the award for best small housing development at the LABC Building Excellence Awards in Nottingham.

The project, one of 16 projects shortlisted by West Lindsey District Council, will now be entered into the national final which will take place in London in November.

Martin Flynn of JK Construction, who worked on the project said: “We’re thrilled that Evergreen Drive has won this award.

“It’s great to receive recognition.”

Hodson Architects director Mark Hodson said: “This was one of those model cases where a client has a great idea and we were able to build on that.

“Due to ambitious environmental features, there were some complexities but we were able to overcome these to deliver these incredible homes.

“We’re so pleased that this project will now enter national stages of the competition.”

The Mill in Middle Rasen, which was converted into a home, was highly commended in the ‘best change of use of an existing building or conversion’ category.

Dr Harries, the home owner said: “It’s a huge honour to receive this commendation and very exciting that our hard work has been rewarded in this

“My wife and I didn’t set out to take on such a big project, but when Anna found the mill we both were so taken with it that we didn’t realise how big a task we were taking on.”

WLDC senior building control surveyor Trevor Durant said: “We are absolutely delighted with the success of all those nominated.

“The Evergreen Drive development is an example of talented developers and the council working together to deliver great results.”
