They will continue every Saturday in September.

The proceeds from the fete arranged by the village hall committee amounted to just under £900 including donations and thanks are extended to all for the contributions.

Barkwith and District Gardeners Association late summer show takes place this Friday, August 29 , in the village hall.

There are 26 classes open to members and residents of East Barkwith, with those living within a seven mile radius of the village also invited to submit entries.

Schedules are available from the village post office or members of the Gardeners Association Committee and entries can be made on the evening of the show from 5pm to 6pm, with judging to commence at 6.15pm.

Les Robinson arranged his most ambitious coach outing to date recently when he ventured out with his party of members and friends of the Barkwith and district Gardeners Association on a five day visit to the Isle of Man.

It proved to be very popular and he had gathered a coach load of 49 passengers.
