A full coach left for an extended four-day trip to the Hampton Court area for members and friends of the Barkwith and District Gardeners’ Association, organised by Les Robinson.
After a break for breakfast, the journey made a detour to see the famous Silverstone racing circuit, before continuing to Stow Gardens.
After a wander round, it was time to go on to the hotel.
Following an early breakfast the next morning, they were back on the coach to spend the day at Hampton Court.
A very full and fascinating day absorbed in history and delightful surroundings was enjoyed by everyone.
The final day in the area was centred on Highclere Castle, now famous as the stately home featured in the popular international production of Downton Abbey.
Those rooms included in the tour of the house that were used in the production of the programme generated lots of interest for regular viewers. The gardens were wonderful.
The journey home included a visit to Basildon Park where, unfortunately, not all the rooms could be seen, due to staff shortages.
On the way back to Lincolnshire, Les had, as always, ensured no-one would return home hungry and had booked in for a meal near Leicester.
The next outing will be a day’s visit nearer home to Wollaton Hall near Nottingham on October 15.
Seats are usually booked up well in advance but there are sometimes late cancellations, so anyone interested should contact Les on 01673 857063 for information.
