BINGO – The next prize bingo evening in aid of Barkwith Village Hall will be on Tuesday, November 8 - eyes down at 7.30pm.
WI - Chartered surveyor and author Sharon Kirk will be the speaker at the next meeting of East Barkwith WI, in the village hall on Thursday, November 10.
The monthly competition will be for a bookmark.
HALL MEETING - At the annual meeting of the village hall, chairman Chris Wilson reported new cupboards and sink units had been installed in the kitchen, but very few of the planned fundraising events had been held due to minimal interest from the public.
However, the clay pigeon shoot and annual fete both went ahead.
Proceeds from prize bingo evenings organised by Yvonne Bryson had continued to help village hall funds.
Treasurer, Marilyn Clark, did not present her report as the financial year had just ended. She said there would be a loss for the year due to the purchase of the new cupboards, but there would still be approximately £8,000 in the bank.
Janet West was appointed as auditor for the coming year and officers elected were chairman Chris Wilson, vice-chairman Colin Fincham, secretary Kimberly Mikula, assistant secretary Jane Perkins and treasurer Marilyn Clark.
BLOSSOMING FUNDS - Summer to Autumn in floral art was the theme when Anne Marie Snowden took to the stage to demonstrate a variety of arrangements using flowers of the season.
She was introduced by Jane Perkins who had arranged the event to raise funds for the St Mary’s Church Tower Restoration Fund and it proved to be very popular, with floral art enthusiasts travelling to the village hall from a wide area.
As the guests sat back and relaxed, Mrs Snowden created her designs giving advice as she worked and afterwards there was the opportunity of winning them in the raffle which gave a further boost to funds.
Thanks were expressed to everyone for their support for the fund, which was boosted by £406.40.
