A De Aston student has taken the top spot for her age group in the 2016 SlamJam competition.
Bobbie Brader beat students from across the East Midlands to win the Key Stage 5 group with her topic Hopeless at the finals staged at Bishop Grosseteste University last week from schools across the East Midlands.
The judging panel was led by poet and performer Ash Dickinson and the overall winner was Charlotte Leake of Lincoln Christs Hospital School.
This was the seventh year the SlamJam, a performance based writing competition for secondary school students, has been run in Lincolnshire.
Students can choose to write a poem, a story or a dramatic monologue to perform.
“The quality of the entries this year has been outstanding with wide ranging topics, ranging from serious to humorous,” said organiser Chris Milnes.
“SlamJam is a powerful way of introducing students of all abilities to a variety of written genres, as well as giving them the unforgettable experience of performing their own work to a real audience.”
