A property developer from Bishop Norton has been announced as the winner of the 2015 Britain’s Best Lawn competition.
Ade Ambler fought off fierce competition to take the £6,000-plus prize, impressing the judges with the dedication he displayed in his lawn care, as well the originality of the design, using the hour glass curves of a woman’s body as inspiration.
Moving into the property nine years ago, Ade has totally transformed the garden, which was little more than a patch of earth when he took it on.
When designing the space, the passionate gardener was keen to maintain an informal design, with no straight lines to be seen, and has even built his own Victorian greenhouse from scratch.
“This was the toughest competition to judge yet, with some truly fantastic lawns to choose from,” said
Ian Small, sales and marketing manager of Briggs & Stratton UK, who have run the competition for the past 10 years.
“The judges, however, were unanimous in their decision that Ade displayed real passion and dedication and that his lawn was both pristinely cared for, and beautiful to look at.”
