Visitors to a popular dog walking spot near Market Rasen are being urged to watch out for ‘smash and grab’ raiders.

Claire Charlton of Legsby was walking her dogs in Dog Kennel Woods this morning, Monday June 2, when her car was vandalised and her handbag was taken.

The theft happened while her car was parked in the woods car park between 9am and 10am.

“I have had a smash and grab raid on my car. The passenger window is smashed and they have taken my handbag while I was out walking the dogs,” Claire told the Rasen Mail.

“A lot of people walk their dogs there. It’s a remote location, you don’t just drive past it. It’s obviously people who are looking for offenders.”

Claire says she contacted police, but was told there was “nothing they can do.”

She did not know of any other similar cases at the car park but believes visitors need to be aware of the risks.

“People go there regularly walking their dogs. The community needs to be made aware this happens,” she said
