SHOPPERS are being warned to keep purses in closed bags when out and about.

Last Friday, June 8, an elderly woman was approached in Market Rasen Co-op by a lady she didn’t know.

The offender waved a £5 note at the lady and started talking in a foreign language, which the lady did not understand.

While the elderly victim was distracted, two men went behind her and took a wallet from her shopping bag.

Police say this distraction technique was also used a few months ago in Market Rasen and urge people to be vigilant and aware of the techniques offenders will use to distract you in order to steal from you.

These offenders are not thought to be local, so could target victims across the area.
