A MURDER investigation has been launched after a man’s body was found on farm land near Great Limber.
The body was found by Humberside Police officers who were carrying out searches as part of an ongoing missing persons investigation launched after 25-year-old Latvian man Arvydas Skrinkas, who was living in Scunthorpe, was reported missing on Tuesday, December 27.
Murder squad detective Chief Insp Steve Hibbitt said: “We can confirm a murder investigation has been launched following the discovery of a deceased white man on farm land near Great Limber on Tuesday, January 11. “The body was discovered by officers who were conducting searches as part of an ongoing missing persons inquiry. “We have two men aged 24 and 26 years old currently on remand having been charged with offences in connection with this ongoing investigation.
“Although we are not yet able to confirm the identify of the man found deceased, we are no longer searching for the missing Scunthorpe man.
“I would like to take this opportunity to reassure the public that our initial inquiries suggest this was an isolated incident however we are yet to fully establish the circumstances which led to the death of a man.” Officers are still carrying out inquiries at the site where the body was discovered and a post mortem is likely to take place at some time during Wednesday, January 12. The male has not been formally identified at this time.
