A bogus caller has telephoned people in North Lincolnshire claiming to be offering a council tax refund.
North Lincolnshire Council received a complaint from a person who has been contacted.
The caller said the person was entitled to a refund because they pay regularly by direct debit.
A statement from the council said: “Council staff are not making these calls about your council tax payments. If you receive a call like this just ignore it or report it to the police.
“Under no circumstances should you give the bogus caller any of your personal details, including details about your bank.
“If you have a query about your council tax please call the council on 01724 296093.”
