The hunt is on for three men who carried out an attempted robbery at an antiques centre while wearing costume halloween masks.

Three masked men were waiting inside The Hemswell Antiques Centre when staff opened up at 9.45am on Wednesday, November 7.

Within minutes they approached two female staff but were fought off by them.

The three men then fled via a window.

It is believed they left the scene in a blue 4x4 vehicle travelling across the field at the back of unit two.

The men are believed to be white, all wearing dark clothing and they wore halloween type masks.

DC Glenn Wright said this was a “very serious and nasty offence”.

He said one of women suffered bruising and described them both as being “extremely brave”.

DC Wright said: “Despite being outnumbered the two ladies put up a brave resistance.”

DC Wright, who is one of the officers investigating the incident, said this type of incident was not an everyday occurrence in Lincolnshire.

Police are now trying to track down the men.

The investigating officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area of the Antiques Centre of Hemswell between the evening of Tuesday, November 6 and the time the offenders approached the two members of staff on the morning of Wednesday, November 7.

They are also looking for a blue 4x4 vehicle, which they believe was involved in the incident and was in the area on the morning of November 7.

Police are also trying to trace a male customer who was on the phone enquiring about an oak table at the time of this incident.

Anyone who thinks they can help should contact Detective Constable Tina Kennedy of Gainsborough CID.
