32-month ban for drinking driver

A MARKET Rasen man who drove his car while more than twice the legal alcohol limit has been banned from driving for 32 months.

Martin Merrigan, 39, of Clay Lane, Market Rasen, pleaded guilty at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court to drinking and driving and failing to stop after a road accident.

On June 18, 2011 Merrigan drove a BMW with 74 microgrammes of alcohol in 100mls of breath and failed to stop the car after a road accident on the A46 at Fir Park.

He was given a one-year community order, ordered to pay £85 costs, and to take a drink drivers’ rehabilitation course.
