BRIGG Town Council’s River Ancholme development project has been put on hold, but only because the authority is getting behind the revamped Ancholme Users Group.
Councillors feel this group is better placed to secure external funding for work to improve the environs of the Ancholme in and around Brigg town centre.
However the town council will continue to organise the annual Brigg Spring Clean and continue its efforts to resolve the issue of litter in the river.
The town council will continue to have representation on the Ancholme Users Group, which now meets more regularly.
Coun Anne Eardley told the council’s planning and environment committee that she was concerned at the poor state and appearance of the river. Members agreed those issues be brought to the October River Users Group meeting.
