RESIDENTS clearing paths and roads of ice and snow are unlikely to be held responsible if someone subsequently falls on them, a new report has said.

Lincolnshire County Council’s Highways team has published advice about the law on clearing snow and ice from public areas, along with tips on how to be as effective as possible.

With compacted snow and icy conditions expected to last for the remainder of the week, the authority is advising residents how they can use various self-help methods, with a reassurance that they are unlikely to be held liable for any accidents.
