Church hosts ‘Crucifixion’

Market Rasen Methodist Church will host a performance of Stainer’s Crucifixion on Good Friday, March 29.

Anyone who sings in a choir or has sung Crucifixion before is welcome to join the augmented choir, which will be led by Market Rasen and District Choral Society.

Library copies of the music will be available and there is no charge to sing.

Singers will need to attend a minimum of two of the three rehearsals planned, which will be held in the Methodist Church Schoolroom on Sundays - March 3, 17 and 24 - from 2.30pm to 4pm.

There is also a compulsory rehearsal at 5pm on Good Friday.

The performance will take place at 7.30pm.

Jeffrey Blewitt will be conducting the performance, with Simon Cole on the organ.

This is also a special year for Market Rasen and District Choral Society, who celebrate 25 years of music.

The society’s anniversary concert will be held on April 27, with a miscellany of choral works and choruses.
