The front garden at Derek and Jean Turner’s home in Louth Road, Wragby, lit up the street with a remarkable Christmas lights display over the festive period - and it can now be revealed that the couple have raised £1095.97 for St Barnabas Hospice in the process.
This is the highest amount that they have raised since starting the magical displays many years ago, and raised around £500 more than Jean and Derek expected.
Jean told the News that the money was all raised thanks to visitors who made donations, and the couple would like to thank everybody who put money in the tin.
Derek, a retired electrical engineer, single-handedly set up the entire display which drew in visitors from far and wide, including a bus full of Alford schoolchildren who stopped to take a closer look. The money will now be dropped off at the Hospice’s office in Mablethorpe.
