Chance for people to sign up for free Prince’s Trust courses

Young people taking the next step in their education are being invited to sign up for a life-changing and adventurous personal development course.

The Prince’s Trust team programme - run locally by Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue - offers people aged 16 to 25 a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to develop the skills essential for success.

Team members are taken on a 12-week personal development programme involving action-packed outdoor activities like caving and climbing, as well as team challenges, community work, a job placement, and careers guidance.

“The Prince’s Trust team programme is a fantastic opportunity for young people to develop skills, as well as get work experience and qualifications,” said Kim Jones from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue.

“Around 70 per cent of those who take part go on to make great achievements in work and education. And it’s great fun.”

The course is designed to boost young people’s confidence and motivation, help them uncover hidden talents and develop skills that are crucial to the world of work.

Many of the participants come from disadvantaged backgrounds and the course helps turn their lives around.

Almost three-quarters of the people who take part go on to jobs, training or education within three months of completing the fun and challenging course.

Places are currently available in Lincoln, Sleaford, Skegness, Grantham, Boston and Gainsborough.

Dates are yet to be set for a further four courses, which will start in September.
