Celebrating 50 years of village life

A SOCIAL research heritage project, to celebrate 50 years of Lincolnshire’s Best Kept Village competition, has been awarded £33,900 from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Involving volunteers from across the county, the project will gather information – photographs, oral history, trophies and written archives – about the area to build a permanent record of how village life has changed over half a century.

The funding was given to Community Lincs, who will compile, manage and promote the archive material gathered on a dedicated website, which will be accessible to everyone.

A full colour heritage book based on the researched material will also be produced for sale to cover the future website costs.
