FIVE-year-old Sam Hyde had an important date at Lincoln Cathedral recently, representing Market Rasen Primary School at a special service.
Along with headteacher Andrew Smith, Sam attended the Service of Re-dedication to mark the 200th anniversary of the National Society and celebrate 200 years of Church Schools.
During the service, each Church School was presented with a Certificate of Re-Dedication and a Bicentennial Bible, a copy of A Garland of Verses – The Holy Bible, which features 3000 verses taken from the original publication of the King James Bible, written and illustrated by pupils in Church Schools in the Lincoln Diocese.
And it was Sam’s job to collect the book on behalf of Market rasen Primary School.
The original illustrations of the children’s Bible are on display in the Cathedral’s Chapter House.
Market Rasen Primary School’s Year 6 were involved with this project and the book includes pages of their work.
