Dozens of voluntary organisations from across the district came together to celebrate West Lindsey’s heritage and discuss how they can support each other to raise the district’s profile.

About 60 representatives attended the event at RAF Scampton, along with members of the council’s tourism working group.

The groups heard how the council is keen to support their valuable work through its various funding schemes, including the Community Chest Fund and Local Councillor Initiative Fund.

Chairman of Caistor Civic Society, Louis King, added: “It was very interesting and well worth attending. We have been interested in hearing about how we can get grants. I think West Lindsey has a lot to offer.”

Tourism development officer Marion Thomas, who organised the event, said: “The aim was to find out what different organisations are doing and let them know how we might be able to support them.

“Publicising events will help encourage more visitors into the area; this is particularly the case with the aviation connection.”
