Planners give green light for new Co-op store to be built in village

A new larger Co-op store is on the cards for Wragby.

After more than 50 years in the town, the Lincolnshire Co-op is keen to relocate because, with floor space of just 2,000 sq ft, its existing shop in Market Place is limited in the range of goods it can stock.

It has earmarked land at White Lion Farm House, off Lincoln Road, for a purpose-built new convenience store which will be able to accommodate a larger selection of products.

The scheme, which has been rubber-stamped by East Lindsey planners, is projected both to safeguard 15 jobs and to create a further five.

To make way for the new store, a bungalow, a garage and some outbuildings will be demolished, but an attractive 19th Century barn with a clay pantile roof will be retained and incorporated into the redevelopment of the site
