Market Rasen’s specialist monthly markets return in April with an Easter-themed event on Easter Saturday (April 4) kicking off the 2015 programme.
The themes were discussed at a meeting of the Market’s Forum last week. They include Food for October, Farmers for June, Gardeners for August and Typically British for the July market, to coincide with a visit from Market Rasen’s twin town in France.
Town Mayor John Matthews said the forum is receiving “positive input” from Rasen’s market traders and Coun Steve Bunney is busily working on ‘pulling together’ the various thoughts on taking the town markets forward.
Mayor Matthews called the monthly markets “Town Specialist Markets” and said they won’t be the MR BIG markets any more.
MR BIG stages an Extraordinary General Meeting tonight when it is expected its directors will stand down.
MR BIG chair Sara Scott confirmed the monthly markets are set for an April launch, but traders can stand on the regular Saturday market if they wish. Another meeting of the forum will take place in two weeks, which is set to sign off some marketing activity.
West Lindsey District Council is “firming up” its offer to give some interim administrative support and the Town Partnership is being developed with the aim of a launch later this year.
