Gold awards for crisp maker at Great Taste

Pipers Crisps, based near Broughton, has won has won three golds in this year’s Great Taste awards - the food world’s answer to the Oscars.

This is now the fourth time the firm’s ‘Anglesey sea salt’, ‘Burrow Hill cider vinegar’ and ‘unsalted’ flavours have won gold in the competition.

A Pipers spokesman said: “Pipers’ crisps have never been more popular, with production running 24-hours a day to cope with demand from discerning retailers around the world, including 5,000 outlets in the UK - pubs, independent retailers, delicatessens, cafés, farm shops, food halls, garden centres, hotels, museums and stadiums.”

And the crisp maker has been voted ‘best brand’ in a survey of British producers where they topped the ‘crisps and snacks’ section as chosen by speciality food and drink retailers.

The spokesman added: “Pipers, fiercely independent and well known for pledging never to sell its crisps through the major supermarket chains, takes great pride in the provenance of its ingredients and flavours.

“Pipers doesn’t go in for fashionable or seasonal varieties.”
