Brigg Rotary Club has honoured long-serving member Lewis Strange.

The Lincolnshire County Councillor’s service in a voluntary capacity to the community has been spread in several directions, but it is particularly his long involvement with the rotary organisation that has been acknowledged.

Mr Strange has been the County Councillor for the Hemswell Ward and District Councillor for the Kelsey Ward for more than a decade.

A keen sportsman in his younger days, he played cricket for Brocklesby Park and hockey for Brigg.

Prior to retirement he farmed out of Searby Top and in more recent years has been a stalwart member of Rotary, including being elected President several years ago.

A Paul Harris Fellowship is the top honour Rotarians can receive, named after the organisation’s founder, in recognition of their service.

Newly appointed Brigg Rotary President for 2015-16 is local farmer Nick Wells who has succeeded Angela Lawrence.
