Christmas lights and lovely loos
Lighting up the town - Brigg’s Christmas lights switch on takes place on Friday, December 4.
Town mayor and mayoress, Coun James Truepenny and Sophie Brumby, will do the formal switch on and the cast of the Scunthorpe Plowright Theatre pantomime will be there to provide traditional Christmas entertainment, prior to the switch on at 5pm.
This will then herald the official opening of the annual Christmas market in the town centre, which will continue throughout the rest of the evening.
The market will be organised by Brigg Lions, which has confirmed that Santa will be arriving on his sleigh in the market place to present presents to local children.
Stalls are available at the market for charities and crafters at a cost of £27.
To book a stall, call 07725 021725 or email email@example.com.
Loo award - A Brigg pub has won acclaim for the quality and standards of its toilets˗in the Loo of the Year Awards.
The White Horse in Wrawby Street has received a platinum star rating, the highest award possible.
The awards are aimed at highlighting and improving standards of ‘away from home’ toilet provision across the UK.
The platinum rating is only given to the outlets which offer “exceptional toilets”.
“I am delighted with the award,” said pub manager Gavin Ellis.
“Staff at the pub ensure the toilets are in first-class condition at all times and it is great that this has been recognised by the inspectors.”
