A fundraising group that only began six months ago has already raised more than £2,000 to help care for and support those with terminal illnesses.
Brigg and District Marie Curie Cancer Care Group hosted a Blooming Great Tea Party in the town’s youth centre to boost their 2015 appeal and raised an incredible £1,062.54.
This included a donation of £200 from Brigg Inner Wheel, presented by treasurer Susan Smith.
“Since January, we have made a really great effort for this cause and we are so proud of the people of Brigg and district for the way they have supported us,” said group chairman Norma Elmore.
“Thank you to everyone who came to our tea party and thanks to all who donated, bought raffle tickets and, most of all thanks to all the helpers as we could not have done this without you all.”
It is not too late for people to hold their own tea party – for two or 200, in your home, garden, place of work or school – and help support the Marie Curie fundraising campaign. Visit www.mariecurie.org.uk/teaparty to sign up.
