ART CLASS – A new season of painting lessons begins in the Reading Room on Monday, February 13, from 2pm-4pm.
New members of the group are always welcome, whether you are a beginner or wanting to improve your skill.
For more information and to reserve your place contact the tutor, Jan Hill, on 01507 533665.
Other sessions will be held from 2pm-4.30pm on March 19, March 26, April 2 and April 16.
MUSIC AFTERNOON – Another charity Sunday afternoon music session in the village hall brought in the crowds, this time in aid of the Firefighters Charity.
Binbrook crew manager Andy Naden also raised awareness of the shortage of retained firefighters.
WattnoAmp kicked off the afternoon and then handed over to several other musicians.
The whole gig rounded off with an ensemble rendition of Hey Jude, which practically raised the hall’s roof.
Another session will be held in March.
CRAFTY CROCHET – For their first meeting of the year, members of the WI had a hands-on craft session.
Guest speaker Margaret Dawson spoke about the history of crochet, which dates back to the Babylonians in 950BC, and then handed everyone some wool and a crochet hook to have a go.
There were also a lot of business items discussed at the meeting along with invitations to other WIs in the area.
The flower of the month competition was won by Kathy Shaw.
Marion Rippon won the monthly competition with a crochet table centre, with Ann William’s cross-stitch church kneeler second and Hilary Harris’s long-stitch picture third.
At the next meeting, in the Reading Room on February 1 at 7pm, John Tenby will be giving a pottery demonstration.
Visitors will be very welcome, at a cost of £3, and for more information contact Marina on 01472 399501.
