An ambitious upgrade of Market Rasen’s Festival Hall is being proposed and the town council seeks your support.
Last week, it launched a survey wanting feedback as to what people would like to see at the hall. The town council says it has set aside money to improve and upgrade Festival Hall and make it the ‘go-to’ venue for community groups, business events and conferences, plus private functions and celebrations.
It seeks to secure funding to carry out repair and maintenance works, as well as modernise the facilities and the decor.
The Town Council said it will submit a bid for money from Lincolnshire County Council and will match the funding from its own reserves if its bid is successful. There are also plans to look at other funding options and support.
Town councillor Natasha Travis is leading the project, with ex-Town Manager Nicola Marshall providing business support.
“The Festival Hall is currently under-used and with investment, creative thought and energy, the town council believes that we can make the hall more attractive and suitable for business, community and private individuals to use, thereby increasing the revenue from this valuable town asset. This is the start of an exciting development project,” said Coun Travis. “This is the town’s asset, so have your say.”
Mayor John Matthews confirmed Coun Travis is seeking “substantial funding from various sources” to add to the reserves the town council has set aside for Festival Hall. It’s a nice facility. It would be great to make it a super facility,” he added.
