The funeral service for Annie Brocklesby (Nancy), aged 96 years of Waterloo House, Market Rasen, was held at St Mary’s Church, Walesby.

The Rev John Carr officiated at the service and arrangements were by J Marshall.

Nancy was born on May 15, 1914 in Selby, North Yorkshire, the oldest child of William and Edith Hoggard.

The family moved to Louth in the early 1930s, where Nancy enjoyed working at Eve and Ranshaw’s.

In 1941 she became a land army girl at Otby Farm House in Walesby, where she met Bob Brocklesby. They were married on October 1, 1943, and became the proud parents of their only child, Stephanie, in 1946.

In 1959 they moved to Otby Top House and became grandparents from 1965 onwards to Sean, Shane, Verity and Tudor.

The devastating deaths of Bob, her mother and brother in 1975 were very hard to bear and Nancy moved to Market Rasen to be closer to her daughter and family.

Nancy remained in Market Rasen for the rest of her life, living in Gordon Field, Lammas Leas Road and, finally, Waterloo House.

She will be lovingly remembered for her selfless devotion to her family and her brilliant Sunday dinners.
