Market Rasen’s award winning Station Adoption group has a new chairman.

Brian Oxborrow, one of the founder members, took over the reins from John Skelton, at the group’s recent AGM.

Mr Skelton has been made an Honorary Lifetime Member in recognition of his early leadership of the group.

“We have done a lot over the years,” said Brian,” and the main thing to do now is keep on maintaining what we have.”

As well as the many planters on the platforms, the station also sports a number of art works, which Brian has been instrumental in helping to create, as part of the community art group.

Later this year, the group will be holding a memorial service on May 11, to mark the 50th Anniversary of the RAF Valiant that crashed near to the station in 1964.

“Family members of the crew will be attending, as well as forces personnel and, we hope, a good number of the general public,” said Martin Barnard, who continues as the group’s secretary.
