Air cadets flying high at annual awards evening

Market Rasen Air Cadets held their annual dining in and presentation night at The Festival Hall.

Guest of honour was Sqn Ldr Al Watt, Trent Wing Executive Officer.

The evening reflected the achievements of the cadets and the success of the unit during 2012.

A number of trophies were presented on the night, with the overall winner of the Cadet of the Year title being William Sheriff.

“The award reflected his excellent contribution to the Air Training Corps in Market Rasen,” said Flt Lt Dave Smith, Squadron Commander of the Market Rasen corps.

Other trophies presented during the evening included Best NCO - FSgt William Davidson; Aircraft Recognition - Cpl Callum Dowse; Sports - Cpl Sara Hirstwood; Shooting - Cdt Amy Burnett , who was also named Cadets’ Cadet.

Market Rasen ATC squadron meets at their Waterloo Street headquarters on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7pm to 9.15pm and is open to anyone aged from 13 years to 18 years of age.
