Supper club and community gardeners.

Supper Club - In a change to the advertised speaker, Robin Marden will be attending the meeting on January 17 to speak about Safe Driving.

It will be a bring and share supper and there will be a nominal charge to cover expenses for the evening.

For more information call Lawrie Lambert on 01673 857515, Mo Fricke 01673 858334 or Sue Johnson 01673 858265.

Programmes for 2014 should be available at this meeting, when, as always, visitors and new members will be made very welcome.

Community gardeners - Edith Nash extended a very warm welcome to members when they met in the town hall for their festive-themed December meeting.

Speaker for the evening was Marilyn Thornicroft, assisted by Lindsay Lowman.

A trained florist Marilyn owned a florists shop in Wragby for 10 years.

She and Lindsay worked together during that time, when they provided floral services for most of the local celebrations including many of the weddings in the area.

On this occasion they demonstrated how it was possible to make table centres using flowers and foliage from your own gardens, explaining each stage in detail.

Thanks were extended to them before the decorations were sold, with the proceeds being donated to club funds, which was greatly appreciated.

Mrs Thornicroft’s fee was donated to her chosen charity, the Oesophageal Patients Association, where she serves as a volunteer co-ordinator for the Lincoln branch.

Members then enjoyed a festive social evening together with mulled wine and fruit punch served with the buffet supper all provided by the committee members.

There was the usual raffle too to round off a very happy evening to end the year.

The Gardeners will meet next on Tuesday January 14, when John and Gail Summerfield will give a talk and demonstration on ‘Going for Gold’ - help and advice from behind the show scene.

Visitors and new members always welcome.
