A Gardener’s Life was the topic chosen by Alan Mason, one of Europe’s top gardener designers, when he addressed members of Wragby Community Gardeners’ Club at the meeting held in the town hall.
He was introduced by chairman Mike Harman, who welcomed the good attendance of members present to hear Alan give a full and interesting account of his life and career.
As a former head gardener at Bramham Park and garden manager at Harewood House in North Yorkshire, Mike has also presented gardening programmes on television and he shared his considerable knowledge with his audience.
Using slides to illustrate his talk and speaking with great humour, he spoke of the funny side of life as a gardener, while also giving the benefit of his expertise and the best way to plant a garden with effect.
The club’s programme continues for the summer months with visits to local gardens and two coach trips.
There are still a few seats available for the outings to the Birmingham NEC for BBC Gardeners World Live and the RHS Flower Show on June 13, and the RHS Tatton Park Flower Show on July 26.
Both trips leave from the Old Fire Station in Bardney Road at 8.30am and will pick up at Nettleham Village Green on the way at 8.45am.
