Powerful snow clearing equipment normally used for on Binbrook Airfield took two days to dig through snowdrifts on the roads around Binbrook in February 1979.

Travelling at one mile every four hours, the Rolba snow blower cut an eight-foot swath up Limber Hill towards Louth. Drifts averaged three feet in depth and occasionally reached seven feet.

The machine was manned by teams of personnel from the RAF camp, who worked until midnight to create a link with the main A631.
