Thoughts of the long winter were forgotten as exhibitors brought their colourful display of flowers to Middle Rasen.
Organisers of the annual sweet pea and early summer flower show were pleasantly surprised with the amount of entries in all sections.
“We would like to thank all our exhibitors for their support once again,” said Society President Joyce Rhodes.
“A lot of villages have had to stop their shows due to lack of support, but not here at Middle Rasen.”
And this year, there were some new exhibitors.
One of those was Philip Hildred who took a number of the flower prizes.
Thanks were also given to the village primary school for the paintings and Rainbows group for decorated eggs, all entries in the children’s sections.
Trophy winners were: Village Hall Trophy, cut flowers and pot plants - Philip Hildred; Ashfield Trophy, Runner-up - Alan Toplis; Shield, Sweet Pea Section (open section) - John Jaques; National Sweet Pea Society Bronze Certificate, Best Vase Sweet Peas- Philip Hildred; Novices Award, sweet peas - Philip Hildred; Vice Presidents Vase, Floral Art - equal Kath Stephenson and Gina Waite; Best Exhibit, Floral Art - Kath Stephenson; Best Exhibit in Show - Philip Hildred, Sweet Peas; Sylvia Pilley Memorial Salver, - Philip Hildred; Another Sylvia Memorial Salver, best rose bloom - Alan Toplis; Best Exhibit, cut flower and pot plant - May Bennett, Pansies; Best Exhibit in children’s section- Leah Jones, with decorated egg; Charles Hanmer Memorial Trophy - Philip Hildred; Charles Hanmer Tankard, Sweet Peas - equal John Bennett and Philip Hildred.
