Rotary club gets out into the schools

LINKS between Brigg Rotary Club and local primary schools look set to develop in 2012.

The club already has strong links with schools in Brigg, Hibaldstow and Scawby through the ‘weekly assist reading project’. Now the club hopes to tap into summer camps run by the Rotary Club of Castleton in one of the Peak District’s most scenic locations.

The Castleton club holds summer camps locally and the Brigg club hopes to provide funding so six disadvantaged children of primary school age can attend in summer 2012.

The club also plans to develop the Rotary Interview Project with the Vale Academy.

On April 22, Brigg Rotary will be supporting the District Disability Games to be held in Hull at Hymers College.

Local athletes are expected to attend, with Brigg Rotarians joining with their Humberside area colleagues in helping to run the day and support the athletes.

The date of the 2012 Stroke Prevention Day is April 28, when Rotarians will be in Brigg Market Place with trained medics offering blood pressure checks to members of the community.

It will be a busy month for the local club, who will also be supporting the annual Brigg Clean-Up Day.
