Cadets from Market Rasen were described as ‘real pioneers’ in the Rasen Mail of 1959.
They were the first in Lincolnshire to receive awards under a vigorous, experimental new training scheme sponsored by the Duke of Edinburgh.
Pictured are, from left, Sgt D Fagge, Sgt M Allard, L/Bmdr J Morley, Staff Sgt N B Goodyer, Bmdr E Smart and Bmdr P Arnett.
Presumably, the scheme referred to was the Duke of Edinburgh Awards which still exist today.
