Probus club set for full programme

Members of Market Rasen Probus Club have been reviewing the past 12 months.

And with the deaths of many of its long term members, 2012 was certainly an unhappy year.

The death of Rex Wheeldon in January was followed shortly by those of Bob Stephenson, Jack Lancaster, the 2011/12 president Brian Gowen, Bill Lancaster, treasurer Gordon Fidler and, just before Christmas, Murray Hayes.

All were notable members of the community in and around Market Rasen and will be greatly missed.

Nonetheless, the club, for retired professional and businessmen, continues to be very active and a full programme has been arranged for 2013.

In February the presentation will be on the building of Immingham Dock in 1912, which by coincidence was part of Michael Portillo’s recent BBC programme Great British Railway Journeys in which he also stopped off in Market Rasen.

Lunch meetings are held once a month at Market Rasen Golf Club and new members are welcome.
