Ken Green gave a History of Normanby by Spital in Photographs when he went along as speaker to the recent WI meeting, held in the school hall.

The evening stirred up a great deal of local interest so the committee decided to make it an open meeting.

With an rapt audience of more than 40, Ken shared his extensive collection and knowledge.

He also took along some interesting artefacts for everyone to look at.

Earlier this month, the group held a summer garden party at the home of WI President Sara Carter in Owmby, where members put together produce, plant, and craft stalls, a selection of garden games and superb cream teas.

The event was well supported by villagers and the wider community, raising a large amount for the group’s funds.

“Thanks go to everyone who gave unstintingly of their time in putting the event on, and a special thank you to all our supporters,” said WI secretary Helen McLaughlin.
