Caistor Grammar School’s new swimming pool was opened at the school fete back in 1966 by chairman of the governors, Mrs V Neale, pictured centre, with other dignitaries.

The fete raised £320, wiping out almost half the deficit on the construction costs of £2,000.

One of the highlights at the fete was boys and girls diving to retrieve coins thrown into the pool by the visitors - about £6 was raised in this way.
