THE success of Market Rasen Station Adoption Group’s work is spreading far and wide.
At the group’s annual meeting, two members of Cleethorpes Heritage were keen to get some advice on improving their own town station.
They were inspired by the group’s ‘can do’ attitude and in particular by the enthusiasm of the group’s chairman John Skelton.
It is this enthusiasm that saw John re-elected as chairman for the coming year.
Big projects at the station have now been completed and the past year has been one of maintenance and smaller items of enhancement.
Silhouettes of Victorian figures have been one feature created in the past year.
And the latest addition to the painting projects is a roaring fire in the waiting room, complete with station cat Beeching.
Thanks were given to everyone who has supported the group over the past year and it was hoped businesses would continue to offer their support through sponsorship.
“Our £20 sponsorship request worked well last year with a number of local businesses joining the scheme,” said group member Martin Barnard.
“We will be contacting businesses again shortly and hope they will be able to come on board again.”
Plans are also under way for an open day at the station.
At the present time, the group is looking to tie in with the annual Heritage Open Weekend held in September.
